Woodlawn Central: The South Side reimagined.
J. Byron Brazier is leading the development of Woodlawn Central. Located in the heart of Chicago’s South Side, it’s a mixed-use urban district, transit hub, and cultural portal that introduces a national model for development in the Black community from the inside out. It marks the catalytic milestone in the realization of the Network of Woodlawn's 2060 SMART Woodlawn plan. This plan outlines a visionary path for the community's internal development, steering it towards a practical and sustainable trajectory for future transformation.

J Byron Brazier is the Chief Operating Officer for The Brazier Foundation. Established to build on the vision, legacy and life’s work of the late Bishop Arthur M. Brazier, Pastor, Civic Leader and Community Activist, The Foundation guides not-for-profit agencies seeking to improve the quality of life in our African American communities, with an emphasis on four essential pillars: Education, Public Safety, Economic Development and Health and Human Services.
